August 29th marks the 61st anniversary of the March on Washington, when hundreds of thousands of people walked through the streets of DC for civil rights. But did you know that kids were the inspiration for it?!

Meet Jaiden and Janelle from Cherry Hill, NJ. Their documentary about the children’s March of Birmingham won third place at The National History Day contest, a competition for students in 7th through 12th grade!

First Stop News: Why do you all feel like it's important that kids your age learn about the children's March?

Janelle: Because maybe a lot of us growing up thought that we couldn't make a difference, or we couldn't actually change things. But seeing how these children did make a difference…it kind of inspires you and it makes you want to fight for something better than you already have right now.
